Design Contours

Flat-Fit™

Engineered to be easier to seat while requiring less tooth reduction and prep time.

The perfect balance of esthetic morphology and precision fit

EZCrowns

Competitor

Designed for minimal tooth removal—less chance of pulpal involvement—and a fast, predictable result. EZCrowns are at the intersection where form meets function. Say hello to new standard of care in pediatric dentistry.

Designed with both in mind—easier seating with less tooth removal

As amazing as zirconia is, it doesn’t flex and this can present a challenge during seating. Flat-Fit™ contours bring you the best of both worlds—a crown with just enough contour to offer beautiful esthetics and optimal tissue health while permitting a passive fit and requires less tooth removal during crown preparation.

Modified occlusal profile

EZCrown contours are modified to require far less occlusal tooth removal. Flattened occlusal anatomy minimizes excursive interferences and requires less reduction, lowering the risk of pulpal involvement.

Relaxed undercuts

The larger a crown’s opening, the easier it is to seat, but that ease of fit also compromises gum tissue health. The more undercut a crown has, the better the emergence profile, but the crown will be more difficult to seat. Flat-Fit™ contours offer the perfect balance between “ease of fit” and “ideal emergence profile.”

EZCrowns

Competitor

While you might reach for the same size with a competing brand, the more pronounced anatomy of the crown may require a more aggressive preparation of the tooth to permit a passive fit.

Relaxed interproximal undercuts simplify back-to-back cases

EZCrowns with proprietary Flat-Fit™ enhanced gingival and interproximal contours—allow predictable anterior restorations, even where there is slight to moderate crowding. This unique “cingulum saving” design, allows seating with far less tooth removal maintaining the tooth’s flexural strength, and greatly reducing the chance of fracture at the CEJ.

From the simple to the most complex cases, EZCrowns can handle them all and deliver a result that’s truly amazing.

It all starts with the right shape. Flat-Fit™ contours (available exclusively from Sprig) bring you the best of both worlds – a crown with just enough contour to offer beautiful esthetics and optimal tissue health while permitting a passive fit and requiring less tooth removal during crown preparation. Watch co-founder of Sprig, Dr. Jeff Fisher, dive deep into the design philosophy of EZCrowns with tips to save chair time.

Patented retention grooves

Zir-Lock®

Designed to lock in cement and create lasting bonds.

Take a close look at the patented retention grooves milled into the intaglio surface of every EZCrown.

Double the internal surface area

Maximizes the cement-surface bond

Not all crowns are created equal

EZCrowns are the only pediatric zirconia crown designed with Zir-Lock® to lock in cement, creating long-lasting bonds with mechanical retention you can count on.

A widely recognized problem in dentistry:
Smooth-walled zirconia crowns come off

That’s why we made a non-smooth-walled zirconia crown.

Due to zirconia’s crystalline structure—very similar to that of a diamond—cements do not have good adhesion to this material. Zir-Lock® is designed to eliminate retention issues that are still plaguing zirconia restorations in dentistry today.

Do it once – Do it right

Zir-Lock® eliminates the need for return visits due to loss of retention, giving you peace of mind every time you seat an EZCrown.

Reliable cement margin

Margin-Lock™ seals in cement at the margin to prevent washout.

We eliminated the biggest challenge that zirconia crowns face—loss of retention. A breakthrough in pediatric zirconia technology, Zir-Lock® is something your patients will never see, but they will be glad you chose to use it. And the result is an amazing restoration that will last the test of time.

First of all: EZCrowns can use any cement

Sprig zirconia crowns are unique in that the Zir-Lock® bonds without fail to any type of cement, greatly simplifying the cementation process.

…which is also the easiest to use

Since pure GI cements don’t shrink on polymerization and they bond better to the prepared tooth in the wet and wild environment in pediatric dentistry, they offer a far more predictable and easier bonding solution than any of the resin-containing luting agents.

Additional benefits with pure glass-ionomer cements

Best for the environment They are water-based, free of resin and bisphenol-A derivatives, and bond chemically without added energy or waste.

Extra savings built in No need for expensive bonding agents, curing lights, and complex application steps, reducing both material costs and chair time.

Most research studies done Backed by extensive scientific studies, GIs offer strong clinical assurance of their effectiveness, reliability, and long-term performance.

Pure glass-ionomer cement

To ensure retention for the lifetime of the restoration, it is important to maximize adhesion in not one but two areas: the cement to the crown AND the cement to the tooth. Sprig zirconia crowns are unique in that the Zir-Lock® bonds without fail to any type of cement, greatly simplifying the cementation process. To maximize the cement bond to the tooth, it is important to select a cement appropriate for the clinical environment. Whereas resin cements do well in adult crown ceramic crown preparations that are supragingival, the subgingival prep required to achieve a passive fit, and the clinical environment in pedo make it difficult to isolate the preparation from excess moisture. Glass ionomer cements, like Ketac Cem (3M), bond much better in moist environments (hydrophilic) than do resin-based cements. And the result? You are now able to use the best cement choice with confidence that retention will not be an issue.

Why GI?

Since pure GI cements don’t shrink on polymerization and they bond better to the prepared tooth in the wet and wild environment in pediatric dentistry, they offer a far more predictable and easier bonding solution than any of the resin-containing luting agents.

Adhesion treated

Micro-blasted with Aluminum Oxide, our crown’s interior surface is perfectly prepared for cementation. It delivers the extra assurance, requiring nothing from you, but helping to ensure your success—an attention to detail you expect only from Sprig.

Independent lab test

confirms effectiveness of Zir-Lock® retention grooves.

Testing conducted at an independent test facility—Progressive Technology, Inc.

Take a look for yourself:

Average force to create retentive failure at cement/zirconia interface.

The world’s first pediatric zirconia crown has also been shown to be the most retentive.

With tens of thousands of restorations placed and clinical experience dating back to 2008, you can trust the fact that our patented Zir-Lock® Ultra retention grooves will lock the cement inside your crown, providing twice the retention compared to the competitor’s crown.

Notice the smooth internal surface allows a clean separation of cement from the competitor’s crown at nearly half the force required to dislodge an EZcrown.

Designed to ensure a long-lasting restoration, Zir-Lock® patented retention grooves increase mechanical retention and eliminate the need for a try-in crown or a specific cement. Watch Dr. Jarod Johnson explain why Zir-Lock® gives him confidence that his work will last.

Modified Shapes

Space-Loss™

Modified shapes so you’ll be ready for any case.

Designed to fit crowded cases

Alternative ‘pre-squished’ shapes for narrower mesio-distal dimensions.

We knew that back-to-back crowns complicated by space loss would inevitably be a challenge when we introduced the world to the first pediatric zirconia crown back in 2010.

Save up to 3mm of arch length in crowded back-to-back cases.

EZCrown’s Space-Loss™ molars help you restore even the most challenging cases. With wider bucco-lingual and narrower mesio-distal dimensions, Space-Loss crowns allow you to restore crowded cases faster and easier.

Think of them as your “howe pliers” for pediatric zirconia crowns

“We have parents who seek out our practice because of the crowns that we place.”

“I’ve had other pediatric dentists call me and come into the operating room to watch me place Sprig EZCrowns because they’ve either seen our work or they’ve heard that we do good work, and they want to see what kind of crowns we’re using.”

Dr. K. Sawyer Negro

Owner of Bellingham Pediatric Dentistry

“Adopting the EZCrowns in my practice has been an incredible practice builder. It’s made me stand out in a slightly crowded field in my area, as I’m the only pediatric dentist in town who offers them. I’ve had families come up from three counties away, four or five-hour drive to come and get these crowns done.”

“We are proud providers of Sprig EZCrowns not only because it’s helped our practice grow from a revenue generation standpoint, but because of the feedback we receive from our patients. Parents are savvy enough now to know the differences in “white” crown options and they don’t want the “big, ugly chiclet teeth ” or “filling crowns” that break down. Offering this product really does set us apart from other practices in town. I’ve worked with many of the common zirconia brands over the years and I can say with certainty that Sprig EZCrowns are the most aesthetically pleasing, biocompatible, and durable crown option on the market today.”
